Work With Us

The Caribbean is losing its health workers.

The Caribbean is experiencing a structural health workforce crisis driven by three compounding forces: brain drain, underinvestment in health worker retention, and the near-total absence of data infrastructure to understand and respond to either. Most Caribbean health ministries and hospital systems are making critical workforce decisions without meaningful data infrastructure. No retention dashboards. No predictive models for workforce shortages. No real-time visibility into where health workers are concentrated versus where they are needed. PAHO projects a shortage of 600,000 health workers across Latin America and the Caribbean by 2030. The Caribbean is at the center of that crisis. Belvi Health exists to close the data gap driving it.

Who We Are

The Meaning Behind Bel Vi

In Haitian Creole, it means the good life. Not luxury. Not wealth. The simple, fundamental good life — the one where you can take your child to a clinic and there is a nurse to see them. Where a community does not lose its doctor to a hospital in Miami. Where a government knows exactly how many health workers it has, where they are, and what it will take to keep them. That good life is what we work toward. One workforce dataset, one retention strategy, one health system at a time. Bel vi is not just our name. It is our standard.

About Belvi Health

Belvi Health was founded by Shakira Martelly, a Haitian-American people analytics and health workforce strategy professional with an MBA in Data Analytics and a career spanning healthcare data analysis, HR operations, and organizational effectiveness. She has built executive dashboards used weekly by C-suite leadership, led regulatory audits to zero findings, and spent years translating complex workforce data into organizational strategy across US-based health systems.  She founded Belvi Health because the Caribbean deserves the same quality of health workforce intelligence that wealthier regions take for granted — and because bel vi should not be a privilege. Belvi Health is based in South Florida and works remotely across the Caribbean region.

Who We Serve

Ministries of Health across CARICOM member states. Caribbean hospitals and regional health networks. International organizations — PAHO, IDB, World Bank, UNICEF, CARPHA. NGOs and humanitarian organizations with Caribbean health programs. USAID implementing partners operating in the region. Research and academic institutions studying the Caribbean health workforce.

What We Do

Health Workforce Consulting

We partner with ministries of health, regional health authorities, hospitals, and international organizations to analyze workforce data, identify retention risks, and build actionable strategies. Deliverables include workforce retention analyses, staffing gap reports, executive dashboards, and Health Labour Market Analysis support aligned with PAHO frameworks.

Workforce Analytics Training

We train HR managers and health administrators inside Caribbean health systems to build and use people analytics tools themselves — so the intelligence stays in the region long after our engagement ends. Delivered online in English and French. 6-8 week cohort program focused on Tableau, Excel, SQL, and Power BI in the Caribbean health context.

Regional Health Workforce Intelligence Platform

Coming 2028. A subscription-based platform giving Caribbean governments, international organizations, and donors real-time visibility into health workforce trends across the region. Built from Caribbean data. Built for Caribbean decision-makers. Grant-funded through IDB, PAHO, World Bank, and the Caribbean Development Bank.
